Health Report – Barbara Hawley Hartley

Today I received email from Cheryl Dillard that originated with Betsy Hartley, daughter of David and Barbara Hawley Hartley.  As you may recall Barbara was in the hospital suffering with a MRSA infection.  She was put on a medication to fight the infection.   Her condition improved and she was able to go home for the holidays.   The email I received today said, “The MRSA drug is not working any longer for my mom.  In 3 months the MRSA infection has built resistance to the medication.  She was put on a new drug, Tilavancin.  It is a new drug that the hospital had never used previously but the medical community is running out of options to treat the MRSA infection.  My mom’s life lays in the hands of God.”  I paraphrased this a little, but I was combining two emails.  I will post further updates here as they are received.
